Wow.

Just wow.

Okay. Maybe not just wow. Maybe I want, also.

Correlation?

Is there a connection/correlation between me getting a teaching gig in art history at a local community college and me seeing this picture in the same day?

Probably not. But I'd like to think so. Mayjay props to Miz Parker for locating and reposting this gem.

EONS, I TELL YOU!!!

For those of you that have never been introduced to the Avett Brothers, my first question is: "Who are your friends and why don't they love you?" My second question is: "Do you have friends?" My third question is: "Why aren't you my friend?" I would have told you about these studly Southern men like eons ago! EONS, I TELL YOU!!!

Below are three videos from their recent CMT Unplugged Episode, which I did not watch in full because I don't have cable. (Now it all makes sense why we're not friends...it's because I don't have cable, isn't it?!) The first two videos are of new songs that I had never heard and the last video is of a personal favorite. Let me just say that these guys can't make a bad song, in my opinion. Love that goes on for eons for these men, their music and their talent. EONS, I TELL YOU!!!

Well, there you have it folks. The Avett Brothers. Feel free to check out more of their stuff without my guidance and assistance. You won't be disappointed. And when in doubt, Emotionalism is the album you want to buy first.

You Know the Drill...

If Jimmy and Justin get together, it will be on this blog. Enjoy.

Discoveries

Thanks to the lovely website that is Flavorwire I was able to discover a contemporary photographer whose photographs are both beautiful and tragic.

Meet Araminta de Clermont. Her work is a new take on an old theme: portraiture of the invisible or marginalized. Don't know what I mean? Exhibit A:

Dorothea Lange, Migrant Mother, 1936
And just like Lange, de Clermont's work is not entirely candid, but candid enough to be emotionally resonant AND visually striking.

Here are some of my favorites of de Clermont's work, but do check out more on the website...
